Hello Melbourne!

Here I am in Melbourne where I grew up and learnt my trade… a caterer... to the biggest rock n roll band in world. U2 - oh yeah! So good to be back. I really do love this town, the food, the people - good memories, bad memories.

We are at Etihad Stadium, home of AFL football. Our crew are excited - Adrian, Blake, Kit and Kylie. Two first timers to the tour life and two old timers (Adrian and Kit) - we will see.

Tough gig, the kitchen set up is a demountable kitchen, we built the compound in some parking bays on the ring road around the stadium (oh so glamorous) with lots of walking. The crew are all cool, two personal chefs on the tour with us looking after Bono and Jay Z.

We are staying at the Oaks on Bourke, a classy well thought out establishment - nice bar, open late, Jack Daniels and mojitos available. Crazy girls dancing telling us tall tales...

The venue has come together, considering it is a sporting venue and that it rained pretty much all of the load in. We survived, three days of catering, nearly 3000 meals with loads of dietary requirements. But no egos just lots of old friends on this tour which is so nice. Makes being a caterer a real pleasure, and they loved the food, raved about it which we love. Busy dining room, lots of staff working, damn fine servers as well and loads of propositions.

I had a meeting with the venue CEO, Ian Collins about future stuff and all that. Lovely guy, wow - what an inspiration!

The load out was tough, we lost a flight case (Jay Z… we will remember) 60 + trucks all trying to get out. One sleepy catering crew at 3am after a monster days cooking, cleaning, serving and packing cases for Brisbane. Oh, and a 9am flight which is a 7am lobby call… so rock n roll!

Brisbane - here we come!
